"text": "140\n51. The Economy That Does Not Throw\nPeople Away\nJournal Entry\nA system that calls people surplus has already declared war on its own\nfuture.\nA society reveals its theology through the people it calls surplus.\nUnemployed.\nUnprofitable.\nUninsurable.\nUnskilled.\nNoncompliant.\nHigh risk.\nLow value.\nThe categories sound administrative. The person hears a verdict.\nThe first books were written by someone who believed society had\nthrown him away. That belief did not remain economic. It became\npolitical, spiritual, and violent.\nThis is why the future of work belongs in a book about military\nclimate.\nA society with advanced weapons and abandoned people is not\nsecure.\nAI transition policy is security policy.\nWhen a technology displaces work, the burden should not fall\nentirely on the individual whose skill became cheaper.\nCompanies benefit from public education, infrastructure, law,\nresearch, stable currencies, and generations of human knowledge\nembedded in data. Productivity gains are not created by owners\nalone.\nThe return should be shared.\nThat can take many forms:\nPortable benefits that follow the person rather than the\nemployer.\nWage insurance during transition.\nPublicly funded retraining tied to real jobs, not certificates with\nno market.\nShorter workweeks where productivity rises.\n",
