"text": "48\n17. Information Superiority\nJournal Entry\nInformation superiority becomes tyranny when one side owns the\nevidence, the channel, the classifier, and the definition of truth.\nOctober again.\nIn the old books October was sacrifice: no meat, a month to\nremember that life had been taken to feed me.\nThis year I add another fast.\nOne hour each day with no feed, no news, no model, no voice in\nmy ear telling me what the world means.\nSilence as counterintelligence.\nNATO's digital strategy speaks of information and decision\nsuperiority, resilient networks, and human-machine collaboration.[5]\nEvery major military seeks some version of the same thing.\nKnow more.\nKnow sooner.\nDecide faster.\nDisrupt the adversary's ability to do the same.\nInformation superiority is logical in battle.\nIt becomes dangerous when imported into democracy.\nCitizens are not adversaries to be managed.\nOpposition is not an enemy sensor network.\nPublic debate is not a battlespace in which one side must\ndominate the narrative.\nYet the language migrates.\nCampaigns target populations.\nPlatforms conduct influence operations for advertisers.\nGovernments speak of information threats in ways that can\ninclude foreign deception, domestic criticism, satire, leaked truth,\nand inconvenient ambiguity.\nThe defense against propaganda can become propaganda with\nbetter branding.\nThe defense against disinformation can become a permission\nstructure for secrecy.\nThere is no simple line because lies are real weapons and\ncensorship is also a real weapon.\nThe answer must be process, not trust in a perfect authority.\n",
