"text": "82\nconcern. Fifty-five percent of Gen Z respondents had delayed major\nlife decisions because of finances. Sixty-nine percent said housing\navailability or affordability affected career decisions, 58 percent\nreported digital fatigue, and one in five said their organizations were\nscaling back entry-level roles as AI changed hiring. [26]\nThe International Labour Organization estimated that in 2025\nthe global youth unemployment rate was 12.4 percent. About 67.3\nmillion young people were unemployed, while roughly 257 million\nwere not in employment, education, or training. [27]\nThen someone looks at the generation standing before that\nlocked gate and says it has failed to launch.\nNo.\nYou did not fail to launch.\nThe runway was privatized, flooded, mined, automated, or priced\nbeyond reach.\nYou were told to learn the future, then charged for access to it.\nYou were told to build a personal brand before you had a private\nself.\nYou were told every mistake would follow you forever, then\njudged by adults whose mistakes were made before universal cameras.\nYou were told technology would liberate time, then given a\ndevice that turned every hour into a marketplace.\nYou were told AI would remove drudgery, then watched the\nentry-level ladder begin to disappear from the bottom.\nThe OECD warned in 2026 that generative AI could\ndisproportionately affect youth unemployment because simpler\ncognitive tasks are common in entry jobs and young people are hit\nhardest whenever a general employment shock makes it more\ndifficult to enter the labor market. [29]\nThis is not a prophecy of inevitable defeat. It is the reason the\ntransition cannot be left to executives, procurement departments,\nventure capital, generals, and models trained to call displacement\nefficiency.\nThe productivity belongs to the people whose labor, language,\nimages, code, behavior, and public knowledge made the machine\npossible.\nThe time it saves must become human time.\nThe wealth it creates must become human security.\nThe knowledge it contains must not become a private border\naround the future.\nGen Alpha enters this story even earlier.\n",
