"text": "17\nYou do not owe the throne your despair.\nStay alive long enough to build what rage alone cannot imagine.\nANGER IS EVIDENCE. DISCIPLINE GIVES IT DIRECTION.\nWhat Makes a Revolution Break\nThrough\nJournal Entry\nThe fire is not enough.\nHistory is full of people whose anger was understandable, whose\ncourage was real, whose sacrifices were enormous, and whose revolts\nstill failed to replace the order they confronted.\nHistory is also full of regimes that appeared eternal until several\nconditions aligned and the throne discovered that permanence had\nbeen an administrative habit.\nThe research on successful revolutions does not provide a magic\nformula. It does reveal a recurring convergence.\nFirst, private frustration becomes mass recognition. People stop\nexperiencing unemployment, corruption, humiliation, debt, scarcity,\nexclusion, police abuse, or blocked adulthood as isolated personal\nfailure. They recognize a shared structure.\nSecond, the elite fractures. Journalists, judges, civil servants,\nbusiness owners, religious leaders, local officials, intellectuals,\nmilitary officers, and members of the governing class cease to act as\none body. Some defect. Some remain neutral. Some provide resources,\nlegitimacy, evidence, or an institutional door.\nThird, a unifying motivation crosses the divisions the old order\nused to rule: class, region, religion, ethnicity, language, profession,\ngeneration, and party. A movement does not need total agreement. It\nneeds enough agreement about the immediate future that power\ncannot isolate each grievance and purchase it separately.\nFourth, the state enters crisis. It loses money, legitimacy,\nadministrative capacity, battlefield credibility, or the ability to supply\nand command its own institutions. A fully functioning state can\nabsorb extraordinary anger. A state already breaking under war, debt,\ncorruption, succession, or economic shock can discover that one\nmore refusal is not one more protest. It is a systems failure.\nFifth, the international environment opens. External powers\nwithdraw support, become distracted, disagree, or decide the ruler is\nno longer worth the cost. Revolutions occur inside countries, but\n",
