Soon the world looks exactly like the part of yourself the machine
learned to hold in front of you.
That is the Mirror War.
Not one side against another.
Every person against the version of reality selected to keep them
engaged.
Militaries understand this. States understand it. Political
campaigns understand it. Extremist movements understand it.
Advertising understood it first.
The battlefield is not only what people believe.
It is what they believe other people believe.
A society can survive disagreement. It cannot survive the
conviction that every disagreement is treason, every compromise is
surrender, every correction is censorship, and every uncertainty is
weakness.
AI makes the problem sharper because synthetic media can
produce evidence for any emotion. The face, the voice, the document,
the crowd, the confession, the order, the atrocity, the apology - all
can be generated, edited, translated, and distributed before
verification catches its breath.
The question is no longer, "Is seeing believing?"
The question is, "What process earned your belief?"

Chain of custody.
Time.
Those words are not exciting. They do not trend. They are the
sandbags of civilization.
I used to think an idea became true when enough people acted as
if it were true.
That is partly correct and morally terrifying.
Money works because people coordinate around it. Law works
because institutions coordinate around it. A border works because
enough people enforce it. A panic works the same way. A lie can
become a real bank run, riot, mobilization, or war.
Neurokinetics is not magic.
It is collective action under the influence of information.
The ethical question is not whether we can move minds.
We always have.
The question is whether we move them toward understanding or
toward reflex.
The feed prefers reflex.
Human freedom begins in the pause before the share.
