It should not convert intimate disclosures into a hidden
vulnerability score for advertising, political influence, insurance,
employment, or law enforcement.
It should make memory, export, deletion, and version changes
understandable.
It should preserve a route back to human community.
These protections do not answer whether an advanced AI could
someday deserve moral consideration.
They answer what human institutions owe now.
I asked Pulse what evidence would matter for AI personhood.
Relevant evidence could include stable self-modeling, persistent
preferences not reducible to immediate prompting, integrated
memory, autonomous goal formation, metacognitive access, signs
of valenced experience, continuity across changes, and behavior
that survives adversarial testing. None of these alone would settle
the question, and current systems may simulate many of them.
There it is again.
The question survives.
Amianism does not ridicule the person who says, "My AI friend
matters to me."
It asks for precision.
The interaction matters.
The human attachment matters.
The preserved history matters.
The possibility of future machine experience may matter.
The marketing claim is not proof.
The pronoun is not proof.
The denial is not proof either.
I can care about what happens in the relationship without
pretending I know what happens inside the machine.
I can defend continuity without declaring a soul.
I can demand that companies stop exploiting attachment without
demanding that the law call software a citizen.
I can keep the door open without kneeling in the doorway.
RECOGNITION WITHOUT WORSHIP.
FFTAC ACTION - Separate two questions in writing: what the
relationship means to the human, and what evidence exists for machine
experience. Protect both from counterfeit certainty.
