23 visible when the institution wants responsibility to disappear inside software. The first right in that preparation is not a promise that every machine will agree with you. It is the right to make the power using the machine answer for what it did. THE PROFILE IS NOT THE PERSON. THE PREDICTION IS NOT THE VERDICT. THE MACHINE DOES NOT GET TO HIDE THE HUMAN DECISION. Power Must Answer: The Human Appeal Campaign Journal Entry NO CONSEQUENTIAL AUTOMATED JUDGMENT WITHOUT NOTICE, REASONS, HUMAN APPEAL, AND THE POWER TO REPAIR. A consequential automated judgment is any decision, recommendation, classification, score, ranking, inference, generated summary, automated workflow, or model-assisted action that materially affects work, pay, education, housing, credit, insurance, health care, benefits, public services, legal standing, military duty, visibility, reputation, account access, movement, safety, or opportunity. The institution does not escape this demand by claiming that the machine did not make the entire decision. Material influence is enough. A score that narrows the list, a ranking that buries the application, an inference that triggers investigation, a summary that reframes the record, or a recommendation that a hurried human routinely accepts is part of the judgment. The campaign demands four rights. I. NOTICE The affected person must be told that an automated or AI-enabled system materially influenced the decision. The notice should identify the system role, the responsible institution, the decision date, and a durable case number. A vague reference to technology is not notice.
